Spanning Tree Protocol: RSTP Inferior BPDU Handling

RSTP also has improvements with the handling of inferior BPDUs sent by designated switches on a segment.

In 802.1D, if a designated switch started sending inferior BPDUs, other switches on the segment would wait the MaxAge timer before expiring the original superior BPDU.

In 802.1W if an inferior BPDU originated by a designated switch is sent to other switches on the segment, those BPDUs are accepted immediately, replacing the previously stored BPDUs on the receiving ports of the attached switches.

This instantly forces attached switches to re-evaluate the port roles and rapidly react to a situation where a neighboring switch experiences a topology change event.
